We fell in love and got married in a traditional ceremony on November 16th, 2014. We later documented our marriage through five affidavits, including a joint declaration of our commitment, and a contract to be husband and wife until death. We’ve lived together since April 2016, but things have been difficult. My wife, who is 30 years old, is now refusing to live with me.

Based on Indian law, your marriage is not legally valid. While your ceremony and subsequent documentation may express your commitment, it does not constitute a legally recognized marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act or other applicable personal laws. Therefore, your wife’s refusal to live with you does not amount to abandonment or a legal marital issue.
