Yes, you can legally adopt your stepdaughter. Indian law allows step-parents to adopt their stepchildren if the biological parent consents or is deemed unfit. Since the child’s father was absent and abusive, the court is likely to grant your adoption request, especially considering your long-standing role in her life.
