My wife left India for Australia in July 2014 and I’m trying to get a divorce. She won’t be coming back, but wants her mother to represent her in court. Can her mother fight the divorce case on her behalf even if she’s not in India? I don’t even know where she is in Australia. Can I get a divorce without her appearing in court?

Under Indian law, a divorce can be granted even if one party is absent. However, your wife’s mother can only represent her if she holds a valid power of attorney authorizing her to act on her behalf. You may need to serve legal notice on your wife in Australia to proceed with the divorce, and a court may consider your wife’s absence in determining the divorce proceedings.
