My wife keeps wanting to go back to her parents’ house. She stays there for long periods, sometimes even three months at a time. It feels like she prioritizes her family over our marriage. Is there a chance I can file for divorce because of this?

Indian law does not consider a spouse’s frequent visits to their parents’ home, even for extended periods, as grounds for divorce. Divorce is granted only in cases of serious marital breakdown, like adultery, cruelty, or desertion. Your wife’s visits to her family, while understandable, do not meet these criteria.
