My wife filed a 498A case against me a year ago, and we’re currently in the middle of it. She just filed a fresh FIR at a different police station, alleging rape. This is despite the fact that I was granted bail in the 498A case, and we’ve already submitted our own FIR regarding her family’s threats and harassment. Should I be worried about this new FIR? We’ve already provided evidence to the police, and I was living in the same city as her due to my work. Now I’ve been transferred, but she’s following up on this old complaint. This whole issue was already mentioned in the 498A case, and we’ve filed a counter-statement. What should I do?

You should consult a lawyer immediately. Filing a fresh FIR for rape while a 498A case is ongoing, especially when the alleged incident was already mentioned in the previous case, raises serious concerns about malicious intent. Your lawyer can advise you on how to proceed, including filing a counter-complaint and seeking legal protection.
