Under Indian law, your sister’s husband can file for divorce on grounds such as cruelty, desertion, adultery, or irretrievable breakdown of marriage. If he files, your sister will receive court notices at her last known address. She should consult a lawyer to understand her legal rights and options for responding to the divorce proceedings.
