My registered marriage happened six months ago, after our engagement. But we haven’t had a proper wedding ceremony yet. Recently, I realized that he’s not the right person for me – our values don’t align and his family keeps asking for more, which is a burden for my humble background. I just want a divorce. What are my options?

You can file for divorce on grounds of irretrievable breakdown of marriage, citing incompatibility and differences in values. The lack of a formal wedding ceremony doesn’t affect the validity of your registered marriage, so you can proceed with divorce proceedings.
