My marriage in 2014 turned sour quickly. Within a few months, my husband and in-laws became demanding, wanting my entire salary and expecting me to handle all household chores before and after work. When I refused to quit my job, they threatened to stop supporting me financially, pushing for a divorce.
After filing a complaint with the DCW and requesting my expenses, my husband’s behavior changed. Now he refuses a divorce and also refuses to live with me. He prevents me from entering our home and offers only 2 lakhs as alimony, threatening to withhold it if I don’t agree. He’s also started saying he can divorce me without my consent and won’t pay any expenses. His mother has disinherited him, adding to the complexities.
I’m deeply distressed and traumatized. Sadly, I suffered a miscarriage due to the overwhelming work and emotional torture. He consistently avoids counseling sessions at the DCW. What legal options do I have in this situation? I desperately need guidance.

Based on your situation, you have legal recourse under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA) and the Hindu Marriage Act. You can seek a protection order against your husband, file for divorce with a claim for alimony and other expenses, and seek legal redress for the domestic violence you endured.
