My husband lost his job and needed money for credit card bills. We used my gold jewellery as collateral for a loan. Later, my mother-in-law used more of my gold to get a car loan for me. The money went into my account, which I gave to my husband. He promised to return the gold within a year. We separated, and he couldn’t pay the car loan. I had to sell the car for Rs. 5.5 lakhs to clear the loan. Now my husband and his family are demanding Rs. 3.65 lakhs for the gold. They claim I’m responsible since the money went into my account. Should I pay them to get my jewellery back?
