My husband has been deceiving me for years. I was unaware that he secretly obtained a divorce without my knowledge and remarried. I had to leave for a job opportunity in April 2013 and he promised to follow me abroad. He visited me twice since then and we remained in contact. During his first visit, I learned he had married someone else just a year after I left. He assured me he would resolve this situation quickly and be with me. But I waited, and now I’ve discovered he’s about to have a child with this new wife. I feel betrayed and heartbroken. We are Hindus and legally married. What legal options do I have to seek justice and protect my rights?

Your husband’s actions constitute bigamy, which is a criminal offense in India. You can file a criminal complaint against him for this offense. You also have grounds to file for a divorce based on his adultery and deception. You can seek alimony and other financial relief from the court.
