My husband filed for divorce in 2014, citing grounds under Section 13(a) of the Hindu Marriage Act. We’re now in the final arguments stage. But I’ve just learned that he’s planning to remarry in a few weeks, without even finalizing the divorce. I’m unaware of the date, venue, or details. Can I do anything to stop him from marrying, and what legal options do I have at this point?

You can file an application with the court seeking a stay on the marriage. This application will be based on the fact that your divorce proceedings are still ongoing and a final decree hasn’t been passed. The court can, at its discretion, issue a stay order preventing your husband from marrying another person until the divorce is finalized.
