My husband and I got married six years ago, and she went abroad for studies right after. We stayed in touch for a while, but the calls became infrequent and eventually stopped. She hasn’t come back, and I don’t know where she is. Her family also doesn’t know her whereabouts. I want to file for divorce, but I’m not sure how to proceed. What are my options, and what legal grounds can I use for the divorce?

You can file for divorce on the grounds of desertion, as your wife has been absent for more than two years without any reasonable cause. You can file a petition for divorce in the Family Court in the district where you reside, providing evidence of her absence and attempts to locate her.
