My friend is in a difficult situation. He’s a 22-year-old young man, newly married and a father to a 3-month-old baby. His wife wants to live near her family, but his own family is threatening him and his loved ones if he doesn’t comply. They’re even making threats of violence and claiming they have connections that will protect them from the law. He’s worried and can’t afford a lawyer. What should he do?

Your friend should immediately report the threats to the police and seek legal aid from a free legal aid clinic or a lawyer working pro bono. He should also try to document the threats and any evidence of violence, as this will be helpful in his case.
