Under Indian law, it is illegal to engage in a sexual relationship with a married woman without her husband’s consent. This is considered adultery and is a criminal offense. It is important to respect the sanctity of marriage and refrain from pursuing a relationship with a married person.

My wedding in Jaipur in May 2014 was a joyous occasion, but soon after, difficulties arose with my in-laws. My husband initially stood by me, but later sided with his family. They constantly complained to my parents about my behavior. In December 2014, they asked my father to take me back for a few months, citing their small house and the impending birth of my sister-in-law’s child. When my husband left for work in Assam in February 2015, he told my father he had cut ties with his family and would bring me to Assam soon. He stayed in contact through regular phone calls. However, in May 2015, we received a letter accusing me of being foolish, mentally unfit, and lacking understanding. They threatened to end the marriage. My father tried desperately to reconcile things. In September 2015, another letter arrived, this time accusing me of being incapable of basic tasks like bathing and dressing myself. Given these circumstances, can I file a defamation case for the insults, a cheating case against my husband for breaking his promises, and a divorce? What evidence would I need to support these legal actions?

My wife and her family have been causing me a lot of distress. They constantly pressure me for money and make my life difficult. I’m a working professional in a PSU and have two children, making this situation even more challenging. I need some legal advice on how to navigate this personal crisis and protect myself.
