I got married in Nagpur, Maharashtra, two years ago through a court ceremony under the Hindu Marriage Act. Unfortunately, my husband has been abusive and mistreated me, and we haven’t lived together since a month after our marriage. Can I file for divorce from a different location, as I no longer live in Nagpur?

Yes, you can file for divorce from a different location. Under the Hindu Marriage Act, you can file for divorce in the court where you currently reside, provided you have lived there for at least one year. However, you may need to prove that your marriage broke down in Nagpur to establish jurisdiction.
