I got married in 2012 and my wife left me in December 2012. It’s now 2016, and I want to get a divorce. Are there any grounds where I won’t have to pay her maintenance? Also, she moved away and I don’t know where she is – can I still get a divorce without her being present?

Under Indian law, you can seek divorce on grounds of desertion, which applies in your case as your wife left you in 2012. However, maintenance may still be granted depending on her circumstances. You can file for divorce even if you cannot locate her, but the court may require you to take steps to find her.
