In India, mental illness alone is not grounds for divorce. However, if your wife’s obsessive-compulsive disorder significantly impacts your marital life and reconciliation seems impossible, you could seek divorce based on cruelty under the Hindu Marriage Act. Your wife’s parents’ behaviour may be considered as a contributing factor.
