Under Indian law, the agreement reached in Lok Adalat is legally binding. Since the wife received the agreed-upon sum and consented to the divorce with no future financial responsibility for the husband, she cannot now seek maintenance payments. The court granted the divorce based on the agreement, making it legally valid.
