Starting a website business in India, I’m keen on using email marketing for promotion. But I’m unsure about its legality when sending emails to people I don’t know. We all get plenty of marketing emails, but is it okay to reach out this way to unknown folks?

In India, sending unsolicited commercial emails is illegal under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regulations. You need explicit consent from individuals before sending them marketing emails, even if they are not personally identifiable.
