Section 299 defines culpable homicide, which is causing death by an act that is done with the intention of causing death or with the knowledge that it is likely to cause death. Section 300 defines murder, which is culpable homicide not amounting to murder if the act is done with the intention of causing death or with the knowledge that it is likely to cause death.
