What legal steps can we take against someone who repeatedly files false complaints with the police, motivated by malicious intent, to harm us? They’ve already been charged under IPC 211 for one such complaint, but many others have been found false during investigations. We’d like to know what action we, the police, and other government agencies can take to prevent further harassment from this individual.

You can file a complaint against the individual under Section 499 of the Indian Penal Code for defamation. The police can also investigate the individual’s intent and charge them with further offences if evidence of malicious intent is found. You can also approach the court for a restraining order to prevent further harassment.
