My sister-in-law filed a false dowry harassment case (498A) against me, my husband, and my mother-in-law. Her mother claimed we assaulted her, which is completely untrue. I was at work during the time mentioned in the police report. I have a letter from my company confirming my presence at work. I also have my attendance records showing my login and logout times. Can I sue her father, brother, and mother for defamation if I manage to get the case dismissed?

The false allegations, including the assault claim, and the involvement of her family members in spreading them could be considered defamatory.
