My mother was brutally attacked last Monday by Sashikala Roy, wife of Subhas Roy, and their son Biswarup. She managed to escape, but suffered a serious eye injury that could have been fatal. I witnessed the horrific scene and rushed her to the local Municipal Hospital. We then filed a complaint with the Sonarpur Police Station (FIR no. 2040, GD no. 523, dated 05.09.2016) in the presence of IC Paresh Chandra Roy. Why was the attacker granted bail despite the severity of the crime?

In India, bail is granted based on the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. The court considers factors like the severity of the offense, the possibility of the accused tampering with evidence or influencing witnesses, and the likelihood of the accused fleeing justice. The decision to grant bail is ultimately at the discretion of the judge.
