My home was recently robbed, and we’ve identified a suspect. Everyone else involved has taken a lie detector test willingly, except for this person. We have strong circumstantial evidence. If we can prove they’ve been dishonest, can the court order them to take a polygraph test?
Indian law does not allow courts to compel individuals to take polygraph tests. The admissibility of polygraph results is also limited, as they are considered unreliable and can be influenced by factors beyond truthfulness. While circumstantial evidence is admissible, it must be strong enough to establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
