My father passed away a few years ago, and my grandfather’s house is currently shared by three of his six sons, including myself. I’ve recently secured a job in another city and want to move out with my mother. However, two of my uncles living there are unwilling to settle the matter officially. I fear that if we leave, they’ll take over my share of the property. As I’m working elsewhere and can’t leave my mother alone, I need legal advice on how to protect our rightful share of the property.

Under Indian law, you have a right to your share of the property inherited from your father. To secure your share, consider filing a partition suit in a civil court, seeking division of the property among all rightful heirs. This will legally define your share and prevent your uncles from claiming it.
