My father-in-law threatened me at the courthouse and I filed a police complaint. He then showed up at the police station. They gave us a meeting date to try and settle things, but it didn’t work out. Now, the police have set a meeting for Friday at 2 PM. My father-in-law hasn’t filed a complaint against me yet, but I’m worried he’ll bribe someone and try to get a backdated complaint filed. I’m wondering if I should apply for anticipatory bail under Section 107/151. Is it too late in the day to do this?

While it’s advisable to consult a lawyer for personalized legal advice, you can still apply for anticipatory bail even after the police meeting has been scheduled. However, considering the potential for a backdated complaint, it’s best to act promptly and apply for bail before Friday’s meeting. The court will assess the merits of your application based on the circumstances of the case.
