No, you do not need to go to the police station before applying for anticipatory bail. You can apply directly to the court. Similarly, you are not required to be physically present in court when applying for anticipatory bail. Your lawyer can represent you.

Can I use the vigilance report to file a case in the High Court? What is the difference between a suit and a petition? Can I file a criminal case for a false and frivolous report and a damage suit against the Delhi Police for not filing an FIR within the time frame set by the Supreme Court?

My friend and I were at a bar with some others when he got into an argument with a few guys. They attacked him with a bottle, so he filed a police report. After finding out about the complaint, those guys made a false accusation against my friend and included my name, claiming I verbally abused them and that we tried to assault them. Both cases are now in the same court, and hearings are ongoing. What should we do?
