My colleague asked me to join a network marketing company, and I registered him with my own money. Unfortunately, the company closed down, and now he’s demanding his money back, threatening to report me to the police if I don’t pay. I don’t have his money; I used it for his registration. Could I face legal trouble if he files a case?

In India, if you registered your colleague without his consent or clear understanding of the financial risks involved, you could be liable for misrepresentation. However, if you can prove you acted in good faith and he was aware of the potential risks, you are unlikely to face legal trouble as long as you can demonstrate the money was used for his registration.
