Living in Chennai, we’re facing a serious problem. A nearby oil mill is polluting the air day and night, making it hard to breathe. This constant exposure to harmful fumes is a major health risk for everyone in the area. I’m worried about the long-term effects. What legal steps can I take to address this issue and protect our community’s health?

You can file a complaint with the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPC under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. You can also consider filing a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Madras High Court seeking their intervention to stop the pollution.
