I’m a Delhi Police constable. My friend and I were on night duty when a complaint was filed against us. The FIR was registered under sections 354/451/506/509/34 of the IPC, but the women who made the complaint later denied the allegations during their 164 CrPC statement. The investigating officer filed a chargesheet under sections 451/506/509/34 IPC. The case is still pending in court. The women now want to drop the charges and get the FIR quashed. What steps can be taken to get the FIR quashed at this stage?

Since the FIR is already under trial, getting it quashed is difficult. The women can file a petition in the court seeking to withdraw the complaint and request the court to discharge you. However, the court may not quash the FIR if it believes there’s sufficient evidence for trial.
