I was falsely accused by my manager in 2005. Two complaints were filed against me – one for a car fire and another for abusive emails under the IT Act. While the police dropped the IT Act complaint after taking my manager’s statement in 2012 or 2014, they filed the other case as untraced. I was never called for any inquiry. These complaints were filed after I was suspended, indicating they were fabricated to harm me. Since I belong to a Scheduled Caste, can I file a case under the SC Atrocity Act and Section 182 of the IPC against my manager and the police who say my complaint is time-barred?

Yes, you can file a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Act for the false accusations and the police inaction. You can also file a case under Section 182 of the IPC against your manager for making false complaints and against the police for refusing to investigate your complaint, provided you can demonstrate their inaction was due to mala fide intentions and not merely delay. However, the success of your case will depend on proving the allegations and overcoming any legal hurdles related to the statute of limitations.
