How long does the state have to appeal against a not guilty verdict by the Judicial First Class Magistrate (JFMC) court in India? Does the appeal have to be filed only in the High Court? Does the time period change if the accused is a police officer?

The state has 90 days to appeal against a JFMC court’s not guilty verdict. The appeal must be filed in the Sessions Court, not the High Court. The time period remains the same even if the accused is a police officer.
