A property dispute in India led to a police complaint against three individuals. Now, the owner wants to withdraw the complaint against one of them as the property issue has been settled. However, he wants to keep the complaint against the other two due to the emotional distress caused. Is it possible to remove only one name from the FIR, and what are the steps involved?

In India, it is possible to withdraw a complaint against one individual while keeping it active against others. The complainant needs to file an application before the concerned Magistrate outlining the reasons for withdrawal, along with proof of settlement. The Magistrate may consider the application based on the circumstances of the case and may grant permission.
