We engaged a premium matchmaking service, hoping to find a partner who was open to marrying outside our caste. The matchmaker assured us she had numerous clients willing to consider inter-caste relationships and would only send us proposals from such families. She also promised to personally screen and handpick each candidate. However, we were disappointed to find that:
1. Many of the profiles sent to us were not actually open to inter-caste marriages. This wasted precious time as we were only allowed to receive 5 proposals per month.
2. Some profiles sent to us were unaware of the matchmaker’s involvement and hadn’t even hired her services. This meant she hadn’t screened or handpicked them as promised.

Indian law does not specifically address matchmaking services. However, you may have grounds for a legal claim against the matchmaker for breach of contract and misrepresentation. This is because the matchmaker made specific promises about the service she would provide, which she failed to fulfill.
