We bought a large Panasonic TV from Samrat Electronics in Kalina, Mumbai, three years ago. Within a week, the TV developed a problem and the company replaced it. The same issue reappeared a few months later, and we received another replacement. Now, after a year, the problem is back, and Panasonic wants ₹20 lakhs for a smaller replacement. Our original TV cost ₹25 lakhs. It seems like there’s a manufacturing defect. Can you advise us on what legal steps we can take in the Consumer Court?

You can file a consumer complaint in the Consumer Court seeking replacement with a new TV of the same size and model as the original, or a refund of the purchase price. You can also claim compensation for the inconvenience caused due to the repeated repairs and replacements. You have grounds to argue that there is a manufacturing defect and the company’s refusal to provide a suitable replacement is unfair.
