My son paid a total of 55,000 rupees for admission to an engineering college in 2015, including government counseling fees. He never attended classes due to poor facilities and health issues. When he tried to withdraw admission, the college insisted on a four-year seat blocking fee and two semesters’ fees. They signed an agreement with us and threatened legal action. They returned his original documents but refused to refund the fees, promising to do so later. What legal options do we have?

You can file a complaint with the relevant consumer forum or approach the state’s education department, seeking a refund of the fees. You can also explore legal options under the Indian Contract Act, challenging the validity of the agreement and seeking compensation for unfair practices by the college.
