My prepaid mobile number, which I’ve been using since 2007, was deactivated on August 19th because it was inactive for three months. My service provider didn’t inform me beforehand, even though they claim to have sent an SMS. I never received any message from them, and now they’ve given my number to someone else. I desperately need this number back. What can I do?

You can approach the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and file a complaint against the service provider. They are obligated to inform you before deactivating your number and should not have given it to another person without proper notice and opportunity to retain it. You can also try to reach out to the customer care of your service provider and explain the situation.
