My family bought a flat in Panchkula Sector 20 back in 2010. The builder promised a special loan scheme for two years, but it never came through. We paid another 10% of the cost and got the allotment letter. The builder finally allowed us to get a mortgage in October 2011. But then they started demanding more money and charging interest for delays.
We complained and the builder stopped charging interest for a while. But, the promised delivery date passed. The builder finally gave us the keys in August 2015, but without the necessary permits. They later offered these permits, but with a huge late payment charge.
We’re living in the flat, but we’re worried about the builder’s actions. What should we do?

You have grounds to seek legal recourse against the builder for breach of contract, delay in delivery, and charging illegal interest. Consult a lawyer to file a case in the Consumer Forum or a civil court for compensation, and to ensure the builder provides the necessary permits and clears all pending dues.
