My family booked a flat in Assotech’s “The Nest” project back in 2012, paying half the cost. We signed the agreement with the builder then. After 2014, we haven’t heard from them. Every time we call, they promise work will start in two weeks. Yesterday, their main office was closed, so we went to their temporary office. There, we learned the company is facing financial problems and several cases have been filed against them. They might not be able to finish the project and could even shut down. What can we do to get our money back from the builder?

Since you signed an agreement with the builder and have paid a significant portion of the cost, you can pursue legal action for breach of contract and seek refund of your money. You can file a complaint with the consumer forum, the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) if applicable, or approach the civil court.
