I joined the YMCA New Delhi in 2015, but had to leave the course midway through the first semester. Unfortunately, they had already charged the full fees for the entire year. Despite submitting a request for a refund, I haven’t received any response. Since the YMCA doesn’t fall under the AICTE, where can I seek help with this? Are there any specific laws governing fee refunds in such cases, and what steps should I take to proceed?

You can approach the Consumer Forum under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, as the YMCA’s actions constitute unfair trade practice and deficiency in service. You can file a complaint seeking refund of the unutilized fees, along with compensation for mental harassment. The Consumer Forum can order the YMCA to provide a refund and compensate you for the inconvenience caused.
