I bought a Sony home theatre system online from eBay for ₹25,000. A few days later, the seller called saying the model I ordered was out of stock. I asked to cancel, but they offered an upgraded model for ₹32,000 instead. I agreed to pay the extra ₹7,000, but haven’t received the product. The seller isn’t responding and eBay says they can’t help. What should I do now?

You can file a complaint with the Consumer Forum under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Since the seller has failed to deliver the upgraded model despite accepting payment, you can seek compensation for the extra amount paid and for the inconvenience caused. You can also approach the Cyber Crime Cell of the local police station as the seller’s refusal to respond could be a fraudulent activity.
