I booked a flat in Raheja Developers’ “Krishan Housing Scheme” under Haryana’s Affordable Housing Policy 2013. I cancelled the booking in November 2016, but Raheja Developers are refusing to refund my money. They say they’ll only refund after selling my unit and receiving payment from the new buyer. This could take 10 months, and they won’t pay any interest for the delay, even though they charge a 15% interest for late payments. This doesn’t seem fair. What should I do? Can I get help through a legal notice or a consumer forum case?

You can pursue legal action to get your refund. Under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, you can file a complaint in the consumer forum against Raheja Developers for unfair trade practices and deficiency in service. You can also issue a legal notice demanding a refund with interest for the delayed payment, as the developer’s refusal to pay interest is unjust.
