My mother owns 5 acres of farmland in Telangana. Ten years ago, we bought 2 acres, paying taxes and taking loans from banks ever since. We have all the purchase documents and tax receipts. But now we discovered that this 2 acres doesn’t have a survey number on the Telangana government website. The local Patwari suggests registering the land on my name, which shows up on the government website. What can I do to legally convert this 2 acres into my name? Is there a chance the government might take the land back in the future?
Best Answer
You need to legally register the 2 acres in your name through the prescribed process. This will involve applying for a mutation of the land records, submitting relevant documents, and paying necessary fees. The government is unlikely to take back the land as long as you have legal ownership through proper registration.
