My husband and I got married a year ago in a traditional Hindu ceremony with seven pheras. We’re both Hindus, but haven’t registered our marriage yet. He works in an MNC in Maharashtra, and I’m a government bank employee in Haryana. I need to apply for a transfer soon, but the bank requires marriage proof. Since my husband can’t come to Haryana for registration, how can I get a marriage certificate and what documents should I attach for my transfer application?

As per the Hindu Marriage Act, your marriage is valid even without registration. However, for your bank transfer application, you can obtain a marriage certificate by filing an affidavit in court, declaring your marriage details and attaching your marriage photographs and witness statements. This affidavit, along with your marriage invitation card and photographs, can be submitted as proof for your transfer application.
