My father was a Group A officer who sadly passed away while in service. My mother, a Group C employee, recently got directly recruited into a Group A position under widow reservation at the age of 55. She’s been a government employee all her life, with no other income sources. I’m confused about whether I qualify for OBC reservation as the rule mentions promotion to Group A after 40 years. Does direct recruitment at 55 count as promotion? Would my OBC status be affected?

Since your mother’s recruitment at 55 was not a promotion but a direct appointment, this doesn’t affect your OBC status.
