My family owns a small farm in India, about 2 acres. For the past few years, our neighbor has been claiming a portion of it (about 30%) as his own and farming it. We have all the proper paperwork and land records, but he’s refusing to allow us to survey or put up a fence. We’re worried he’ll try to claim more of our land. We’re from out of town and haven’t been able to visit often. What legal steps can we take to ensure he doesn’t interfere with our land survey and stops using our property?

You can file a civil suit for trespass and injunction in the local court, presenting your land records as evidence. This will legally prevent your neighbor from accessing your property and allow you to conduct a survey and erect a fence. Additionally, seeking police assistance to stop the neighbor from interfering with your land survey would be a good first step.
