My family and I live in a peaceful neighbourhood, but a shopkeeper has built a cement godown right in the middle of our homes. The dust from the godown is unbearable and our children are constantly falling ill. We’ve tried to talk to him, but he claims it’s his land and he can do whatever he wants. What legal options do I have to protect my family and neighbourhood?

You can file a complaint with the local municipality or pollution control board citing the nuisance caused by the godown. You can also file a civil suit for injunction against the shopkeeper, claiming that his actions are causing harm to your health and property. Additionally, you can explore the possibility of seeking legal recourse under the Indian Environmental Protection Act, 1986.
