My elderly father, 88 years old, needs the winter sun, but our neighbour’s tree blocks it. We’ve requested them to trim it, and even got permits from the MCD and forest department, but they won’t allow it. What can we do?

You can approach the court for a remedy. Under the Indian Easements Act, 1882, you have the right to sunlight if it’s essential for your property’s enjoyment. The court may order your neighbour to trim the tree or compensate you for the sunlight blockage.
