Living in a cooperative housing society, our corner house has a road bordering its southern wall. Can someone plant trees right next to my wall without my permission? I’m worried the trees could damage my house. Do I have the right to plant trees or shrubs along the boundary wall on the roadside? I’ve seen others doing this, but what does the law say?

Under Indian law, planting trees on a road bordering your property without your permission is generally not allowed, as it can infringe upon your property rights. You have the right to plant trees or shrubs along the boundary wall on the roadside, but you need to ensure you do so within the permitted area and comply with any local regulations or by-laws of the cooperative housing society.
