My husband has been mentally abusing me for years. We have two children, our son lives with my mother, and our daughter lives with us. He’s been unemployed for a year, and hasn’t contributed financially for six years. The abuse has gotten worse and I’m scared for our daughter. What can I do to ensure her safety and well-being?

You can file a complaint of domestic violence against your husband under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. This will provide immediate protection for you and your daughter, including a restraining order against him, and access to shelter and legal aid. You can also seek custody of your daughter and child support from him.
